Psu Crackling sound near Power switch(OCZ)

Thread Starter
I am asking this for a friend, Its a OCZ 600w StealthXtreme PSU, and it has not been used for any more than one year.

When i plug the psu in, And then flick the switch at the back of the psu (from off to on) it makes a weird cracking sound(and the odd spark) it can last upto 5 seconds.

, Today, while in windows, it started crackling and then the computer restarted and when you turn on the computer it dies again

the warranty is gone on the psu so i am not sure what to do
thanks

edit: looks like my m8 allready made his own thread, so sorry about the repost,

sounds like a loose connection somewhere... probably close to where the power cord plugs in.

my psu started crackling initially. after two days and a loud thud it broke down totally. never got to know what the problem was though. but if u continue there is a danger that the psu circuit may burn out. this would void the rma.
RMA it when u have the chance.
