Confused about price difference

Thread Starter
I am able to land a deal for 1TB hard disks. I have a choice between Samsung and Seagate-Maxtor. They are both the same specs, but for some reason the Samsung is much more expensive.

-----------------------------------
Samsung
1TB 7200RPM S-ATA II 32MB
$97.00
-----------------------------------
Seagate-Maxtor
1TB 7200RPM S-ATA II 32MB
$64.00
-----------------------------------

Any idea why the price difference? I asked the shop where they're selling it, and they told me it's just a different brand name.

I didn't know Samsung was that much better brand than Seagate in HDD
And before you ask, no I can't obtain the products' specific names.

Ok they finally replied with the model names. I looked them up on newegg:
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 ST31000528AS:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148433
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822152102

F1

Guess I should go with the Seagate?

You don't want either of them. The Samsung is way to outdated and Seagates since the 7200.10's have had a higher than average failure rate. Get a Samsung F3 or F4, Western Digital, or Hitachi.

I can't find any samsung or WD for the same price, however I was able to find a Hitachi:
HDS721010CLA332
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145304

I also found a 2TB one but it's around 2.3x the price of the 1TB( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145369 ), so it's better if I bought two 1TB and hooked them in RAID0.

The Seagate 7200.12 drives have less problems its just those that repeat the same old bad press at the end of the day what ever make you go for you either get a good drive or not.

I meant in local shops. I don't like shipping HDD since I've had a bad experience with them >.<

Edit: Oh wait just found it! It's for $77 though.
