Just wondering if Aion is any good. It's only $10 on steam. Debating it.

Pretty repetetive, its pretty but its slow paced at least WoW has some interesting quests (Not a fanboy don't even play anymore) I recommend you try the trial before you purchase though.

It's not a "bad" mmo, but it's not really good either. If you LOVE mmos and love all concepts of them, then it's a good deal for $10 and that also give you a month of play time, so hey, not too bad.

The game looks good and plays well, but there was just too much... well, too much of the same I guess. I know all MMOs are inherently the same, but this is VERY similar to other mmos, but it just takes longer to level.

This. Its a good game. But others do it better. See WoW or LOTRO.
LOTRO is free to play btw, so you if you like it you just have to buy points to buy extra Quest packs, which afaik is fairly cheap. You can do all of the Epic quests for free though.

Edit: Aion is very PvP based, while Lotro is very PvE and WoW does both.

I already play LoTRO. I can't even look at WoW anymore. Was just wondering if it's worth it. Gonna hold off, since they don't even offer a free trial. Not worth my time if they don't want anyone even looking at it.

Thanks for the replies guys.

There is a free trial, but someone has to invite you into it. So if you know anyone that plays ask them.

Tbh, I bought the game last year and only got around to playing it last month. It's not a bad game, and for £6/$10 you can't really go wrong. But if you would be worried about wasting money definitely ask around a see if someone can invite you for a free trial.

Like others have said, for $10 you can't go wrong, decent game although a fair bit of repetition, then again what mmo doesn't have that?

I currently play aion and find it pretty good so i can send you a trial key if you want.

Quote:
This is a DEMO of Aion, not an unlimited free trial. As with any demo, it exists to give you a small taste of the game prior to making the purchase.

Aion demo accounts are good for three days, five hours, or level 7, whichever is reached first. At that point, the Aion demo account expires. All of the character information and progress is retained so that a player can continue the adventure when he or she upgrades to a standard Aion account.
To upgrade an Aion demo account to the standard game, go to the Aion section of the NCsoft Store, or purchase a retail box at one of our partner retailers.

It's the 2nd MMO I played (each totaling 40 hours) and of the two I'd say AioN was the slower paced yet better looking.

If you're hungering for a MMO to play, and feel the need to play now, either play WoW or LOTRO. The best of the bunch right now I think. Aion is an OK game like I said, but it's like the ugly duckling, and it doesn't become a swan till you've played it for about 600 hours.

Otherwise just wait for ToR. Gonna be the best thing to happen to MMOs since Ultima Online.
