Issue with undervolt on PII 955 C3

Hi.

Im trying to undervolt my phenom II 955, stepping C3, mainly because i have stock cooler and want to lower my temps. I read in Anandtech and Toms articles, that when you undervolt in bios it doesnt affects the idle volts. But, on my mobo, it does. I cant undervolt becuase if i drop voltage too much, then I idle like at 0.88 V and its too low, while at load its stable.

Is there a way to not touch idle volts when undervolting without disabling CnQ?

Thanks in advance!

There are few motherboards that keep C'nQ active when changing voltage (up or down), you're lucky from this pow. The bad part if your motherboard decreases the idle voltage by the same amount as for the load voltage, is you can't do anything but to alter the amount by which you undervolt so that the CPU is stable in idle. I've never seen a mobo that allows as fine control of CnQ parameters as to set idle and load voltages, IMHO the delta between load and idle voltages is imposed by the CPU, not the board.

So, what to do?. Do i disable CnQ?. And, does the benefits of undervolting outweighs the benefits of CnQ?. And, is there any software utility for me to manage CnQ on software, like RMClock was(unsupported).

Try Phenom Tweaker (CnQ software). You can set higher volt for Idle.
Dont forget to disable CnQ in your BIOS. I use it with an Athlon x2 250
