Thread Starter
Hello everyone. After Christmas, i am planning to get a new cpu, motherboard and ram.
So i have thought of three options.
First of all, let me explain some things. I am willing to spend about 500 Euros.
1st Option : An Intel Core i7 2600 (Not K) Sandy Bridge (4 cores / 8 threads, 300 Euros), a mid-range motherboard (about 120-140 Euros) and 4 GBs of RAM (about 50-60 Euros)

2nd Option : An Intel Core i5 2500K Sandy Bridge (4 Cores / 4 Threads, 220-230 Euros), a better motherboard (Because it is a K processor, and i am going to o/c the hell out of it), and 4GBs of Mid-Range DDR3 RAM, since they won't play any role while overclocking

3rd Option
: An Intel Core i7 - 870 (4 cores / 8 threads, currently 300 Euros but i expect their price to fall due to the new processors) a s1156 Motherboard about 120 -140 Euros and again 4GBs of RAM

4th Option : An AMD Phenom II x6 1090T (6 Cores / 6 Threads, 220 Euros), a sAM3 motherboard for about 120 -140 Euros and 4GBs of RAM
May i add that the system is used mostly for photo / video editing, benching and gaming.
I have these options, if someone has something better, say it, and i'll compare the prices here...
Thanks in advance and sorry for the long post.

My friend I think you should better wait until intel test them properly, And we can't know about prices of each one here in Greece. If you want overclocking prefer i7 870!

you understand you cannot OC at ALL with non-k series chips, they have to be K series for SandyBridge, IDk what kind of prices those are but the price of a 2600K should be a lot cheaper than what you posted. on release day i will have performance test ready for you. i already have the hardware player.

IMO, AMD right now.

That way, when Bulldozer hits, you can upgrade the chip and keep everything else (it's am3 socket).

The 6core AMD already has a performance advantage when it comes to encoding...

I wasn't saying you were wrong, just saying it would be sad, spend like $400, probably get a bit of upgrade fever and then it turns out you get nothing.
