Does my memory suck??

CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800).

It comes with stock timing settings of 9 9 9 24, 1600MHz. Sometimes I think I'm getting unnecessary lag at the most random times. It passes memtest, prime95 max stress tests, and the temp is very cool. Any other tests I can run to see if I need "more" somewhere in my BIOS settings?

I have it OC'd to about 3.8 GHZ (see specs below). Gaming is great, never any issues. It's just that sometimes like say, with Google Earth, I'll be zooming around looking at terrain, then click on a link that opens Firefox, and I'll get a good 10-15 second "Not Responding" error.

Everything checks out, it's just that these random lag issues are annoying as hell. Maybe I'm acting like a brat, but after all the $$ I put into this system I would really like to get rid of these issues.

Could it be my PS? It's a Coolmax 600w. It should be enough according to all the PS wattage calculators I've used.

I was thinking that too, but it's a fresh (two weeks old) copy of win7 64-bit on a fresh out of the box HDD.

I have very similar RAM. Corsair Vengeabce 2x4gb 9-9-9-24 2t 1600mhz PC3 12800. Currently running mine at 1333mhz default settings which runs just fine - maybe you should try doing that?

Or maybe just get an SSD

I have the 4x2GB RAM (same timings) in my system and have had no issues with them. Haven't OCed anything (yet) though.

where is your cpu-nb at? try moving that up to 2400ghz or higher. might fix the problem for you. cpu-nb overclock usually fixes single thread apps on phenom II line.

NB is set to auto at 2000MHz. I'll try that, can't hurt!
