Neep Help With Current System Build!!!!!

Thread Starter
hi folks, names dan, i recently bought a computer from a friend for $100 dollars only to find all that was wrong with it was a stick of ram was loose. :-) it's a Gateway Lx series 6200 with an Amd phenom x4 @ 2.20ghz, 8gb of ddr2 ram (generic), and two recent upgrades i bought/traded for not too long ago, i bought a raidmax 650 watt psu, and traded for a xfx gts 250 1gb gpu. my problem is i feel like most of my games cannot be played at high settings even though they should! i usually play fps games such as Mw2, Black ops, Battlefield Bad Company 2. is there anything i can do to tweak my system to run things better? would love feedback!
that video card isn't gonna max out any current games. bad company 2 requires alot more of a cpu than what your using, as well as a high end video card to run at max settings. the higher you oc that cpu the better performance you'll see in bc2. im not too sure about mw2 and black ops cuz i dont play em.

The gts cards werent designed to max anything out, and you should still be able to overclock that cpu, you should be able to use an application like amd overdrive or something similar for the overclock. I would look into a gtx series card, on an older platform such as that you should try the gtx 200 series cards, I've just gotten an gtx 275 from galaxy and its an awesome card, the only thing it cant max out is starcraft 2
