Honestly, I wouldn't get your hopes up. It seems that Dice/EA are really reluctant about putting effort into prone with the destructible environments. They claim it "just doesn't go together." I laugh at the stupidity of that remark...

sounds liek theyre too lazy to code it in.

Going prone would mean they need to make character models aligned properly with the map land scape without making the models clip through the map.

Retardedly lazy really. It's as simple as: (intentionally drawing this out in as simplest coding terms as I can)

if player model is on relatively flat terrain, allowprone = 1
else (player model is on any oddly angled object or terrain) allowprone = 0

In even simpler words: give us prone, just block us from proning (COD anyone?) if there are obstacles that would make our models clip through objects.

i personally dont miss prone while it was kind of nice, all it ends up doing is having people dolphin dive, and we all know how well that works in cod and battlefield.

atleast now people man up and take their shots instead of diving then shooting. It would also make it near impossible to kill long range snipers because only a smidgen of their head would be visible, and you cant see that from a long distance. The complexity of the environment is a legitimate reason why it cant be done. Terrian isnt just flat anymore with little bumps and valleys, just look at the vietnam maps for the massive complexity of the terrain.

While i miss prone, it has without a doubt improved the quality of the game. Allowing prone will end up must having more people using tubes and launchers for everything.

Simple solution to dolphin diving.

Make a delay between completing going prone and being able to shoot- or a huge accuracy modifier until they had "settled" into a prone position.

Ala BF2 reality mod.

Thats in retail bf2 now also, diving causes a massive accuracy penalty, but the fact is at close range, diving is still a 50/50 chance of killing the other guy, they just cant do it an expect to live at medium or long range anymore.

You solved one problem but what are you going to do about snipers, or anymore for that matter, as weapons are laser accurate now. so people will camp with barely their head showing, making it impossible for people to move around and expect legitimate combat.

The dolphin diving issue BF2 had has always had the most simple solution: no accuracy bonus for going prone, and 2 second delay before firing. (Not saying BF2 did this, I wish it did) If you go prone, you can't fire for 2 seconds until you're in position. Think about how you prone in real life. You can't honestly say you can throw yourself onto the ground and instantly be ready to shoot someone that's 30 or so feet away. Pretty easy concept to implement.

Sniper issue: There's no difference. Without prone, if a decent sniper knows what he is doing, he can still crouch at just the right spot where only his head is visible. Been there, done that.
