I, too, think that having no prone improves the gameplay experience. It helps cut back on the ridiculousness of long-range sniping.

Prone is for noobs.

Actually, in all seriousness, i do NOT miss prone. The only feature I could never stand to have taken away is the ability to JUMP, ala Rainbow Six. Prone is a "meh" feature and those who are so hurt over not having it need to man up.

You can't honestly say you can throw yourself onto the ground and instantly be ready to shoot someone that's 30 or so feet away. Pretty easy concept to implement.

Sniper issue: There's no difference. Without prone, if a decent sniper knows what he is doing, he can still crouch at just the right spot where only his head is visible. Been there, done that.
never said you cant do with while crouched, but you can do it in hundreds more places with prone than crouch.

Also, what about the fact that if you hit someone they just go prone, in the complex environment going prone will 90% of break line of site, would you really want that to happen every other fight. The enemy just ducks out of sight before you can kill them. That didnt happen in bf2 because the terrain was not that complex, once in a while someone could prone behing a wall, or sandbags, but very seldom when it came to terrain. Now picture if you could prone in bc2 vietnam. you would always get out of a fight. Since you can only crouch, people either attempt to fight back, or they attempt to make a run for cover. Either way a fight happens, instead of simply not happening.

To many people here cannot think about something enough to actually see how it works in game, they just complain about it not being there, without think about what would happen if it was there instead.

I'm very interested to see what BF3 will bring to the table. I love BC2 and think that taking it's good points and mixing it with the good points of BF2 will make for a great (best?) team & vehicle oriented FPS.

Um yeah you can, real soldiers are taught to shoot AS they take cover. An 11B2O would know.

But the fact that they dont have prone is ridiculous, I was a little upset at first but I got over it. Its still a great game.

yes, but real soldiers dont get shot, and then simply go prone and heal up and then shoot at the enemy who gets hit and then simply goes prone and heals up, and they do it back and forth over and over.

Prone has no place in the new generation of games that take level complexity to a new level. sure games like like the old battlefield and cod can do it, but they lack the complex maps that are offered in a game like bc2, with lots of rocks and hills, ditches and anything else on the map.

no prone forces some sort of confrontation to happen instead of being able to avoid them 90% of the time like prone would allow. People either attempt to fight back, or attempt to get to cover, rather than simply proning and breaking line of sight in medium/long range fights.

At medium/long range fights it doesn't really matter, 90% of the time its who see's who first is one wins. So that argument doesn't even apply.

If they can have all this "complexity" why cant they figure something out for going prone? They have buildings blowing up and crumbling, helicopters and UAV's flying around, and rudimentary bullet ballistics but they cant figure out how to make a guy lay on the ground?

The healing thing I think should change though, I think if they made it so you could only heal at bases/capture points it would make it better. Not only would staying alive while running out and about have more value if you will, but capturing/defending bases/points would take more teamwork. Thats what this game is about.

I drop people all the time that get the first shot on me in long range fights. If you allow prone, then none of those long range fights will matter because you can simply prone out of it and avoid it. How much fun would the game be if 50% of the guys you shoot at simply prone out of it.
