You do realize that they had prone enabled until it entered beta right? They took it out because it took away the fast-paced action they wanted and reduced it to an all out campfest. Its not because DICE is run by r3tarded monkeys or that they wanted to ruin your fun, it didn't contribute to the type of game they wanted to make. Besides, before they cut prone out they interviewed service men and almost all of them said they wouldn't prone in a combat situation. I have no problem not having prone if a real soldier would have no use for it in a combat situation. Obviously a sniper would use it, but there are usually far too many snipers in BC2 as it is, without prone.

No. They took it out because "there were conflicts with the destructible environments. We had player models laying down at some very awkward angles when there was destruction debris around them." I played the console betas, the models did look funny, but it was a very nice experience with prone, it didn't affect the sniper play much. A little effort into solving whatever model collision was going on would have been a viable option. (i.e. a prone block system like COD uses)
