I don't know how else to answer this question. If you're asking me to personally write the code for it, I can't, and never declared that I can.

Black Ops, MW2, MW1, all have a collision detection that prevents you from going prone if you're near obstacles or on certain angles of slope. It may not be "simple to program" but Dice eliminating prone just due to the fact that it was "odd when there was debris around a model from the destructible world" is sort of a lazy way to brush off the work of coding it the proper way I'm suggesting.

Pointing back at where a few of you derailed off onto saying "lol Stealth wrong code" and "lol prone = noob"

Going prone would mean they need to make character models aligned properly with the map land scape without making the models clip through the map.
Sub and I were commenting, then this all went out of whack.

well the algorithm defining where prone is allowed wouldn't be too bad.

CoD games all have static maps. They can just define where it's authorized (not saying that's what they do). With destructible environments and destructible ground, it's more complicated.

Anyway that's not the reason they took it out.

this is the 1st game on my list for next year.

Depending on the slope percentage would determine the position of the body...so you would have many lines of code for each situation...also have to implement collision detection within a certain distance of an object...and also when you cannot even go prone...therefore it is not simple at all.

I think they should just introduce prone. I think Dolphine dives is a bad idea, it doesn't even help in Black OPS as you can't shoot right after you dive.

Oh they better come up with a fancy method for anti-viruses. We need to take back what's rightfully ours and not let cheaters ruin any fun. If they come home from a hard day's work and suck at gaming, suck it up and try again. You don't need cheats to make yourself happy.

I am looking forward to seeing this be a biggest game of the year but nearly probably not quite biggest game cuz i think Batman will be.

Well you need to realize you gotta dive forward it works for me but if you go sideways you are screwed lol.

ummm lol

if slope =< maxSlopeForProne {
allowProne = 1
}
else{
allowProne = 0
}

Or when designing the maps they can just designate areas of the map where you can't prone. Just like they designate the maximum distance from a flag that you can capture it from; same idea, different logic. If there's building debris, you can't prone too near it. If there's a slope in the ground, you can't prone on it.

Thiru, it may not be the "officially announced" reason, but we all (those who are classic BF players and want prone back) know it was. There's absolutely no excuse other than laaaaa-zy. They had prone on the publicly played beta for consoles, meaning they play tested it before that and felt the experience was fine. Then my guess is they found bugs with models getting clipped and maybe stuck with destructible pieces and took the lazy way out by just removing prone altogether.
