the dust and other things are amazing.

I love to watch tanks fire, it kicks up so much dust around it when they fire. BC2 took stuff like that to a new level and it actually does add to the gameplay as you described.

I have hopes, but not high hopes. I had high hopes for BC2 and was disappointed to say the least.

While some of the suggestions (a tank and two humvees fitting in a chinook) are over-stepping it, its a fun read.

This. It's funny because some kid in another thread a few weeks ago was fighting me like if every COD has been amazingly different and superior than the previous. I made one simple comment about how pathetic it is to see a new COD every year like it's a magazine comic, and he took some serious offense from it. I asked him how MW2 was any different from MW1, saw him viewing the thread, and he just gave up without responding.

I absolutely love the snow/sand that flies around. It would have been nice to have a stormy map with sick gusts of rain and some thunder, maybe some waves in the waters you boat through.

The one thing that ticks me off is that many times, an opponent makes the most BS shots at me through the blinding smoke/dirt/snow, as if they see none. It may be a bug with their GPU drivers or a cheat. Whatever it is, BC2 has improved on it because BF2 had a similarly annoying problem where some people wouldn't see certain grassy areas, and if you tried to hide in them it was useless against them.

The dust is kinda annoying when it blinds you but not the other guy, because it's rendered by the client.

Yea, like I said though BC2 improved on that a little bit since low settings don't eliminate any of the debris. But as Thiru said, the effects are rendered client side so you and I won't see the same effects going on at the same time in the same location. Hopefully soon we can move on from this and go towards server-side special effects.

I'm pretty sure that would be way too network intensive.

seriously guys? your arguing about going prone in a game that they havent said a word about it? your arguing code about a game that has only alittle bit of information out there? its a year away first off......this was an announcement for the game's time for RELEASE...not doplhin diving, prone, sniper crying...

be happy that they gave us a time line, AND STOP PICKING APART A GAME THAT ISNT OUT YET.....you dont know, so be patient and wait till THEY RELEASE MORE INFO before you start screaming at each other....if its as easy as you all say it is to add prone to code, im sure they would have done it.....personally i like not having prone...

i am looking forward to this game and MORE INFORMATION AS IT BECOME AVAILABLE

For things such as smoke and fire from wreckage, yes, but for general dust I don't think so. It's basically a "disc", all you need to do is have all clients synchronized.
