You should use driver sweeper only after you try to uninstall ATI Catalyst Install Manager and it fails to uninstall.

well a 1 1/2 yr ago i ran driver sweeper and i had a very very bad error pop up on me while i was in vista ult 64bit. and luckily i was daul booting with xp pro 32 bit, separate raid 0 set ups.

i had like 90 some gb's of free space left on my vista and after i ran ds even though i have ran it a millions of time before since i was using nvidia gfx cards then. this time i went from 90 some to 360gb of free space on my vista drive !!!

it deleted every game and program i had installed and a bunch of other stuff. i guess i was lucky since i could get into xp and then grab all of my save game files/folder so it wouldn't have been so bad with game saves.

i end up installing win7 7100 build and never did fix the vista side at all. and now i dont use ds at all i stay away from it even driver cleaner pro to boot. so yeah i can feel your pain !!!

So then did the problem only occur when you did it for an ATi card? As in, your 5870?

Yeah, but when the problems happened, were you using an NVIDIA card, or an ATi card?

at that time i was all nvidia gfx cards and it was what i was using to. but since ive gone ati i havent had problems with installs of drivers. since i go into device manager and select the gfx card and right click it to uninstall it and the software their and then i use the driver install to then uninstall the driver again and then after that i use ccleaner to make sure the reg is clean but that is after a reboot and then after all that is done i then install the new driver and reboot and i am done.
