GTX470 vs GTX570 Comparison (Review) - Page 3

Thanks Yosh, awesome job. Been waiting for CFC comps on the 470 vs 570.

This pretty much confirms one suspicion I've held since the day the 580 came out:

nV is cheating somehow on Vantage with the 500 series.

With both the 570, and the 580, these cards score WAY higher in terms of % improvement on this one test vs. their predecessors than they do on any other test. Hopefully, one day we'll discover how they did it wink.gif

Also, as I suspected would likely be the case ... the CFC perf difference on the 570 vs. the 470 is minimal. I think 10% was about the MOST improvement seen (outside of Vantage), the majority of the time (esp. in actual games), it looks like we're hovering around a +3-5% improvement.

As much as I love love low temps and noise ... no way I'm upgrading to 570's from my current cards. Bang-for-buck, if you aren't afraid of overclocking ... the 470 totally dominates the 570 at current pricing.

BTW: I'd wubsmiley.gif: to see a single graph showing of all the % improvements when run CFC thumb.gif

a nice comparision would be 470 sli vs. single 580 since should be about the same price... the killer would be the 470 sli power over a 580 but performance wise would be nice solution for people wanting a upgrade that already have a single 470.

Thanks for the love BJV, I'll post a few comparison charts tomorrow (today technically) featuring the percentage performance gains/deficits for:

GTX570 vs GTX470
GTX570 vs GTX470 OC
GTX570 CFC vs GTX470 CFC
GTX570 OC vs GTX470 OC

It shouldn't take too long at all smile.gif

If I had the money, I'd buy them all and benchmark them. I love benchmarking graphics cards, even during the most tedious phases of testing. Heck, I even enjoy making charts/using excel. Perhaps this is why I majored in Finance wink.gif I should probably put that degree to work at some point!

Very nice, but when you did clock for clock, you should've dropped the 570 to 470 clocks. Aside from that, very nice review, good job sir.

the better update having a 470 is another one. I belive that almost every 470s can do 800mhz, and that OC performs as well as 570/480 at stock clocks. I know that others overclocks too, but at this levels of power i think it's not worth the price difference.

Just as couriosity:

I think your review/benchmarking skills are nearing professionalism. Far better than what you see in average on forums.

Yes I would like to see this as well if you get the chance to.
I am still debating if I should keep my GTX 470 w/ EK waterblock overclocked to 855/1900 memory or getting a 570 or even a 580.
My plan was to get an EVGA 470/570 try out sli if I did get the 570... but I don't know if 2xx bucks will justify the slight performance hit.
I may keep my 470 and SLI them but I would have to get a waterblock.. which will pretty much equate to the price of 1 570.
Choices, Choices..
Good work man..
Happy Holidays guys!!
