New Videocard Choices?

Thread Starter
I currently have a GTX 260 Core216, and I'm looking to upgrade.
I'm planning on playing some graphics extensive games (STALKER, Crysis, Metro 2033, etc.) on a 1920x1080 screen.

In my sights now are:

6870 for $240
6850 for $200
5850 for $180 AR
GTX 465 for $170 (open box)
GTX 460 for $160 AR

I understand the 6870 is pretty fast out of the box, has improved DX11 performance, and has a bit of room to overclock, but it's a little out of my price range. The 6850 can't overclock much, but it is on-par with the 5850 along with the improved DX11. The 5850 can have a huge overclock and is quiet and efficient. The GTX 465 is hot and loud, but has a pretty good chance of unlocking to a 470. And the GTX 460 is just not a bad card overall.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them!

I suggest you wait til end of january 2011 there will be big price drop on this cards. You could probably get a 5870 or 6870 under $170 if u wait one more month.

If your going for crossfire set up go with 6850/6870 series
if your sticking with single gpu I would get 5850/5870 series.

Awesome, that is good to know. Is there any reason for the price drop? Because pretty much all of the new series of cards have been released.
And do you think there will be any sales on Dec. 26 or New Years?

yup, true for sure. waiting for a short time is a good idea.
You mean 6850 for $200?
Do u refer to this Sapphire Radeon 6850 1GB PCI-E Video Card? As to my research it is $155.00. Anyway, hope u find the best bet.
