Problem overclocking R5670 CYCLONE 1G

Thread Starter
Hello everybody!! Im new to your forum and congrats for your work..I have a question for you...

I tried to overclock my R5670 1G,but when i hit 900 Mhz to the core and 1100 to the memories through afterburner, any of the games im launching freezes after a while...I have a suspision that it may be voltage's fault and needs to be increased.Even though i have ticked everything i should in options and enabled unofficial oc levels with the notepad trick, afterburner wont let me increase the voltage. What should i do??

sorry if this has been answered again and thanks in advance

if u cant up the voltage thru afterburner u have two options. flash the card to a different bios that allows u to adjust voltages (usually an asus bios or whatever). Or you can lower your overclock until its stable on stock voltage.

I dont reccommend flashing your card because if you are new to it and do it wrong you can brick the card completely. I would just lower your clocks till its stable.

Also have u stress tested it and been monitoring the temps? what kind of freeze? the kidn where u close the game and go back to windows or the kind where the computer must be restarted?

also go here and edit ur system specs so we can help u easier in the future. Welcome to OCN!

Okay here is a link of everything you need to change in notpad for Afterburner

You will see you have to change value for unlockvoltagecontrol and monitoring as well..

Its complicated...Sometimes the game crashes but i am able to perform the ctrl-alt-delete combo to go back to my desktop..Some other times however,i have to hard reset my pc...the temps had o max of 44 celsius,so temps are not a problem i guess..I am running at 850 mhz core clock for the time being and it seems quite stable

u need to up ur voltage to get stable or down ur oc thats all. Do what substance linked u above to adjust the voltage. If you have already done that ur next option for upping voltage is flashing the bios to one that has a unlocked voltage. and yes ur crashing due to unstable overclock.

i did everything the thread described but STILL cannot adjust the voltage..Maybe this card does not have voltage control??

It seems strange to me because in a website(maybe here i dont remember) i saw somebody with the same card having adjusted voltage without flashing the BIOS..strange...

oh and btw,can someone explain me this??

one is the software version and one is ur ati driver version. They are supposed to be different its fine. Some cards simple do not work in afterburner with voltage adjustment. If you are 100% sure u did everything right to adjust voltage just roll ur oc back down to where its stable.
