Concerns with selling GTX 480 on eBay. - Page 2

I appreciate the feedback of all who have contributed to this discussion and I want to make it clear I am not arguing with anyone. However, there have been a few changes to eBay/Paypal that some of you might not be aware of. In the discussion below I am explaining some of that. I do greatly appreciate the user's responses and I am not arguing with this person.

That does not matter on eBay. Even if you do not offer a refund, the eBay dispute system will take your money back anyway. No refunds was selected in the auction.

Not if the buyer starts the claim though the eBay dispute resolution. That trumps the Paypal resolution system. This is due to one of the many changes they have made this year The eBay dispute resolution system is much, much worse. It took me six hours on the last day to reach a supervisor with the dispute resolutions system and it was only after I mentioned that my evidence would stand up in small claims court that he cooperated. Had I not mentioned that, I believe the buyer would have kept the money.

This is true and I did that. I've been selling on eBay since 1999. My current profile is from the year 2002. The buyer was also a seller himself and had so many transactions that it masked the number of people he ripped off. He was fairly seasoned at what he was doing. I spoke to about three different sellers that had similar problem with this buyer. He also has multiple eBay profiles and once he has an issue with one, he simply stops using it for awhile and switches to a different one.

As many in this thread of have stated, one should document the merchandise in great detail. If any of you sell on eBay, I would advise you to use caution and be more careful with how you catalog your merchandise.

If anybody wants to see, here is the GTX480. Resolution on Crysis was 1080p with 8x AA. CPU in system is Phenom II 965 matched with DDR2 800 MHz. So chances are if you are running an i7 system, you will see even better performance. (I switched the systems in my profile so that you can see my gaming rig and not my rebuilt-Dell).

Warning: the sound in the video is WAY too loud (so turn down your volume).

How common are these scams? What are the chances of someone trying to pull this again?
The big problem is eBay doesn't care about sellers at all. eBay will take your $ back and side with the buyer. That's why it is so easy for people to pull these scams.

Get a tracking number, take pictures, and make sure you add the option to get a signature.

Also don't ship out until the payment has cleared.

This is good advice and it is exactly what I did. Still, it took several days of negotiation with eBay. Usually they just hung the phone up on me. In the conversation in which I finally was granted the appeal I was on hold for six hours. Had it been for any less than $275 I would not have persisted.

As far as selling it, just set it to "Buy it Now" and sell it that way. Bump the bullcrap. As far as disputes, this is what I do for people, even the people on this site: I video tape my entire process of taking whatever it is from a working condition to the box. I don't wanna hear squat about squat not working. 45 itrader reps later I'm good.

Edit: just saw your YT video...EXACTLY how I do it.

Don't expect to get that much from a used GF-100 though, no pun intended.
That's bid-shelling and I don't do that. Ebay also monitors IP addresses and will boot people if it even looks like that might be going on.

Really not much more that hasn't already been said.
Put up a reasonable buy it now, setup buyer restrictions (incl paypal), set immediate payment required, and properly document everything before the sale.

Not really much else you can do.
