New build input needed please!

Building this rig for a guy who walked into my office he has a ~$1200 ish budget. He wants to play older flight sims and such (flight sim x). Also wants to play newer games, dead space, modern warfare ect.

I'm not sure about the motherboard and memory I selected. I think the board may be overkill. He wants 6gb ram. So if this is not the best mobo/ memory combo please advise me of something that works better.

Also please let me know if there is a better video card for the price.

i5-760
Asus p7p55d-e lx
6gb gskill ripjaws 1600
crucial c300 ssd

Unless he asked for it, you may be better off skipping the blu-ray player and then putting the extra money into a 470. Flight simulators can be pretty demanding, and since the i7 may be out of your budget, the extra power and vram of the 470 will might be beneficial depending on his resolution.

What if I swapped the asus board got a GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3? Between dropping the bluray drive and getting a cheaper motherboard we might be able to afford either a gtx470 or maybe a 5870 even?

The 5870 and the 470 are very close in actual performance. The 5870 will be slightly cooler and quieter though. I would look up the specific games he intends to run and see what kind of results they get there.

edit:

also, if he isn't overclocking, you can go ahead and and drop the aftermarket cooling and the drop to a 550w psu. I'm not sure, but if you find deal on a 470, that may put you in i7 range...
