Corsair TX850 Power Supply VS Antec HCG-900W

Thread Starter
I have narrowed it down to these 2

Corsair TX850W 850W CMPSU-850TX 12V 70A 24PIN ATX Active PFC 140M Fan Power Supply

http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/204514/CMPSU-850TX/CORSAIR/

Antec High Current Gamer 900W 24PIN ATX12V V2.3 Active PFC 80 Plus Bronze SLI Power Supply 135mm Fan

http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/231686/HCG-900/ANTEC/

I need a great deal of people's opinions between these 2 I have searched and checked reviews but my final decision will be made after some fellow advice from my OC community.

This will be replacing my current CoolerMaster Extrem Power Plus 600W

Go for the Antec, it's the better unit by a mile. The Corsair TX is an old design, the Antec is a great unit and comes highly recommended by the Guru himself (JonnyGuru in this case).

I also recommend the Antec unit by miles.
But I still question why you need 900W of power.
I got corsair because my local stockist was out of Antecs, and none of the rest they had were any good, and we all know the "Must have machine running NAOW" feeling, right?

Corsair will likely release a TX2 sometime in the near future, that would make the contest more even. Remember the TX has been around for 3 years or so, it was one of the best non-modular units when it was new, it's not new any more. The new Antec HCG is at worst the same price as the TX, and usually lower, plus it has 50 more watts of power.

I'm going to change PSU soon, and it'll most likely be an Antec or Silverstone unit I go for.

Besides, Corsair has had the great PSU rep for ages, that attracts the fanboy tax, whereas Antec doesn't yet...

Edit: Plus of course, if you only got Corsair recommendations from Corsair owners, you'd instantly wonder if it was a fanboy recommendation, and not based on reality... Besides, there's loads of corsair fanboys out there, we prefer reality here tongue.gif

The Corsair TX850 is a good power supply but the Antec HCG-900W is better.

In reality, both will give you excellent service. I greatly prefer the Corsair HX and AX series to the Antec High Current gamer series but they are more expensive.
