That is beyond messed up, what if you were on a trip to somewhere without internet access (camping, or something) and then that 2 days they gave you ran out? I would be so pissed I'd write bad reviews on every single large website that sells that freakin' card.

I RMA'd an ASUS 4870 1gb card a couple months ago and they sent me a 4870 512mb card, I was like... um... no. So when I showed them their error, they then sent me a totally busted looking 4870 1gb card (honestly the PCB was fraying on one end, dusty, etc), while the card I had sent back was just like the day I bought it. Oh well, at least it works.

Typically ASUS is pretty good with their support, but I'm sure it all depends on who's working that day, and what mood they're in.

I definitely would have laughed had they come back and said "no, we're going to send you a card that is about half as fast as the one you gave us, because, well... we just don't have any here".

Got to hand it to them for keeping you on your toes though.

I am actually going on vacation friday for 2 weeks so i could easily have missed this if it were a couple days later.

I called asus tech support and the tech started laughing when he pulled up my file. He told me the rma department has very little technical knowledge and they will probably be calling someone in his dept for a recommendation.
I may very well get a 6990, I just hope they will quadfire with a 5970 os trifire with my 5870

I had the same thing happen to me on my cell phone, once I went on a landline it was fine. I also asked them about this and they said their system has been having problems and they are working to fix it. So I don't think it was on purpose, but hey who knows.
