Asus Rampage Extreme III and i7 930 - Page 2

I think that that water cooling setup is under powered for the 930. They designed it for P4 and 775. The 930 has a TDP of almost 150watts, far more than the 775 chips.

Do you have the stock air cooler you can try?
If the temps are better then you can infer that the water cooling kit is to blame.

You forget the Pentium Extreme Editions also had a high TDP. The liquid cooling can probably work at stock, but not overclocked...

My changes in the BIOS are switching to AI Overclock Tuner to X.M.P. and the changing the BCLK to 175.

This is straight from Factory Defaults.

Its usually better to just manually set timings instead of using XMP. And i don't know how good your chip is but you might need a voltage bump (for the stability issue you mentioned). The big question is why your idle temps are so high...

Vcore = temps We need to know what Vcore you have..

Sometimes at stock the cpu will have a crazy Vcore for which you can turn way down and lower the temps a ton.

I have never seen the temps this bad before tho...

I mean with temps that high, I'm thinking of questions like is there any water in your loop .
I will check now.

Even things like this need to be run through once again IMO. Never know what you might forget.
