Help!!!!

Thread Starter
Shortest backstory possible:

1. My monitor stopped working. It says "No Signal" when system is on.
2. I plug my monitor into another computer and it works fine.
3. I replace the PCIe graphics card (GeForce 7600). No dice.
4. I have my power supply (300w-- more than ample for my system) tested. It is fine.
5. I see no burst/swollen capacitors, but I replace my mother board, thinking maybe its the graphics bus or something. (MSI MS7207). Still no dice.
6. I remove the PCI graphics card and try to use the onboard card. "Eff you" says the computer.
7. I reset the BIOS and suddenly the onboard card works, but neither PCI card. Can they really both be bad? On one I think the fan crapped out, but the other has a heat sink. I don't know how a heat sink craps out.
8. What do I do? Try a third PCI card? If so, what's a good one to upgrade to given my system? (see below) HELP!!!

I think your computer is old and just died.
Well, that's a stupid answer, but I think it's hopeless trying to squeeze life out of it.
How much money do you have laying around for this sort of thing?

I suggest you get this video card... it won't be bottlenecked by your system:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102896

Sapphire Radeon HD4550
It's $15 after rebate.
It's the same card I have, but I paid $50 for it.

Take it apart then put it back together.
Something may have become loose causing this problem, and reassembling everything might fix it.

Everything except the cpu and hsf you can leave that alone, just everything else that is plugged into the mobo willl have to be unplugged the plugged back in.

What does the inside of your case look like. Is it dirty or clean as it may need cleaning and like suggested taking all the components out and putting them back in.

Have you tried re-seating the RAM?

pci-e slot may be dead.

or in your bios, you may need to tell it to look for a video card in the pci-e slots.

test the video card on another motherboard to rule out the video card as the cuplrit.

@vspec & killerk: I kinda did this by default when I replaced the mobo. I also cleaned it all out during the process.

@walshy: same as above, i guess. unless that means something different than just taking it out and putting it back in again.

@blaze951806: yes i can boot using the onboard.

@ neitz: thx for suggestion. definitely affordable. Btw, whats with people suggesting that NVidia PCIe 2.x cards bottlleneck in PCIe 1.x slots, but not ATI cards? You're not the first person to tell me that. Is it really true?

@slngsht: Dead PCIe slots on 2 different motherboards? That seems unlikely. I have tested both cards on both mobos and nothing has worked. How do I tell the BIOS to look in the PCIe slot? That sounds promising...
