just for checking, did you put the supplied 2-face black tape tape on the provided backplate?
its connected to a 12V fan header. i used the original corsair compound which was a very thin layer. i did rotate it. really cant think of anything else could it be possible for my cpu to randomly give off loads of heat due to previous overclocking?

I suspect the corsair h50/h70 are super sensitive to how they're installed. I had my doubts but read my post... I just took my time and was deliberate and methodical - kind of like when i was new at all this and afraid to hurt something.

But don't get me wrong, I'll never recommend or buy another one of these.

You sir are completely right if you do that

Air coolers are better than the h70/h50

agreed. I recently upgraded from a noctua nh d-14 with 2xblademasters to a XSPC rasa 750 rs240 kit, and i only saw a 5-8c drop in load temps.

5-8c drop in load temps when going from a top end air cooler to a full blown water kit.

just goes to show you how good the d14 really is. and any of the higher end coolers for that matter.

funny thing is, the h70 cost about as much as the rasa kit. go figure.

Well kits don't usually perform as well as custom-built water loops, just like pre-built computers don't perform as good as gaming rigs

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY i got it working properly! omg i cant believe i was getting such high temps because of those damn circular motherboard protectors i got with the corsair h70.. i took them out because i thought they might be preventing firm contact between the cpu and contact area. now overclocked to 3.8 ghz and i'm idling at 30 degrees and 50 degrees max load

thank you everyone for helping me
