Issues with 460GTX- advice?

I have recently been having issues with my 768mb Gigabyte GTX 460 (GV-N460D5-768I-B model)
I have had this card since August and have had no issues in all this time. Recently I upgraded my monitor to an Asus 27" VE276 (from a 1440x900max res widescreen) and that has been the only change to my setup.

The first night with that monitor, I noticed some artifacting and the screen would go black for a second then come back on. At first I suspected the monitor as the culprit, but now the leading suspect is my video card.

I updated all the NVidia drivers (running 260.99) and am still having issues. This happens during games as well as just web browsing.

The quick fix that I just tried today (and that seems to be working) is bringing my monitors resolution back down to 1440x900. Since doing this, I have seen no artifacts or blacking out.

However I am hoping there is another fix, as running a 1920x1080 monitor at anything less is just a waste...

FWIW, I am getting Event ID 500 and 501 in my Event viewer (thats Memory responsiveness and Memory Degradation)

Setup:
BFG Tech GS-550 550W Power Supply
Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156
GIGABYTE GA-H55M-S2H LGA 1156 Intel H55 Intel Motherboard
Aforementioned video card
4GB DDR3 SDRAM 1600
running 64bit Windows 7

Hi, I have a friend who is in the same position as you. If you don't mind, would you care to share the "fix" you had which bought the resolution down as a side effect?

Just that- I bumped the resolution from 1920x1080 to 1440x900.

It had only been a few hours since I had done that when I originally posted, and in that time I didn't have any issues. However, over the past 24 hours, I have noticed it still happening (no more artifacts, but the screen is blacking out) but not nearly as often as it was while running the higher resolution.

Nobody has any experience with this?
