CD ripping format preferrences

Thread Starter
I read sooo many things in magazines & online articles about this & that about rip preferrences. From VBR MP3 or WMP to FLAC to ACC, etc. Then a debate about bitrate(s) ... I know I definitely want @ least 192 if I decide NOT to go VBR. I have in excess of 750 CDs --- God the $$$ I have spent --- that I want to rip, encode, categorize down to the very tiniest/minute detail - I am very anal like that, but NOT anal in other ways!

As I have read, it seems pretty much a given to use EAC along with this other prog that I cannot think of atthe moment, to get the best results.

What do you folks like to rip your media? Prog, file type(s), bitrate(s), progz to manage what will be what I consider a rather large library - plus other music files I have gotten by 'other means'. (I hope there is something BESIDES MediaMonk ... I played with that a few years ago, even bought premium/pro version so it had no excuses in doing what I wanted, how I wanted it done. Ugh ... I just did not like the GUI, how the preferrences were actually applied, etc.

One more thing - Anything out there to use beside iTunes for iPod mgmt? What about for saving/removing media OFF an iPod to another PC?

Eh, I will stop here & consider myself lucky if ya made it this far ... let alone respond.

Be good, folks ...

I think Winamp supports ipods.

If I'm using an mp3 player that doesnt support flac, ogg I rip to 320kbps mp3.

If storing/listening on pc for music I really like I go flac lossless

Use EAC to rip to flac. Tag files properly with picard.

To remove media from an iPod I use sharepod. Also realplayer will allow you to manage your iPod
