keycaps + screen protectors?

Thread Starter
just got a blackwidow in the mail today and wondered if there are any "screen protectors" for the keycaps.

i owned a MS ergo 4000 (really liked that one), but the keys slowly got worn away and became smooth and glossy, especially the spacebar... i don't know why that bothers me so much but it does

spilled water on it, then got an excuse to buy a mech

so now that i have this blackwidow (biggest input investment i ever made.... so far ) i want to keep it "gloss" resistant.

i'm hopeful, but i assume there aren't any keycap protectors because no keyboard is the same, making it very hard for third parties to make them

so my question is, has anyone tried to do this and is happy with the result? do you think cutting screen protectors and placing them on the keycaps is the best idea ever?? or do you think i have OCD? or both?

my favorite screen protectors are the ZAGG invisiShields, very popular among phones... they have a nice texture and can take a ton of abuse

Welcome to OCN!

I don't recommend stickers - they never last.

And yes you have OCD. It's plastic so it someday will get shiny. The Second Law of Thermodynamics as entropy returns those dinosaur polymers to their anarchic state. Best to get used to it or face a life of heartbreak and sorrow.

However Lasered keys are not necessarily better than pad printed for some people. A picture of a stained Lasered Black Widow (non-backlit) ABS key.
