what does ps3 have to do with ps2? if you have ps2 games where the hell did your ps2 go?

steam sales is an old trick. it's called the bargain bin in brick and mortar stores. i just picked up a copy of RE5 and fable 2 for xbox 360 for $5 each last monday.

wait i have to install vent/teamspeak calibrate my mic, find a friend who knows a server and i havn't even joined the game yet? i'll just plug in my headset for xbox 360, join your party, instantly find you and have it work like it should. i can actually start my xbox and join a game with friends faster than i can start up my pc and i have an ssd.

paragraph 3 is nice, but you answered yourself in paragraph 4.

another thing i don't like about steam is xbl it puts zero resale value on any game you buy. xbl doesnt force you to register your game to be able to play it. take for example, i bought cod:bo when it came out in nov. played the heck out of single player on veteran as well as prestiged once. it sat for a week and i put it on sale for $45 on another forum and someone snagged it - you simply cannot do this with steam. i guess you can just pirate a copy for single player but good luck making it work multi player.
I can still play Halo online on PC. Can you do the same on Xbox? Its easy to point out the flaws of PC gaming while totally ignoring the advantages. I could do the same with consoles, but ultimately it is a pointless conversation.

And no, I don't trust Microsoft when it comes to gaming. They tried to force people into purchasing their consoles, by either giving no developer support to the PC platform. Or giving a laughably shoddy, obtrusive and downright annoying experience when they did manage to force Live on their users.

I am glad this is the news. I didn't realize PC Gaming was dying or in need of reviving?

I have been playing on my own personal computer since... Command & Conquer, Carmageddon, Diablo, Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Half-Life (95~98.)

I was hooked before that by DOOM.

Had the ole Nintendo => Genesis => 32x => Playstation => Xbox => Xbox360 => PS2 => PS3 route and really have to say the only thing the computer has never had are really good JRPGs (haha, that were not emulated.)

I still think they should release a new Carmageddon. That was one of my child hood games!

There is no other game that can even compare to it, it was legendary.

There are only two games I want to be released, a new Parasite Eve which has been announced, and Carmageddon.

But, that's the whole problem with people who moan about games not being as good as they used to be. Folk look back on childhood games with rose tinted glasses and remember the good times.

A developer brings out a game that in fact, is just as fun if not better... but you never re-capture that feeling when you were a kid and therefore it gets branded a failure.

Carmageddon and Carmageddon II: Carpocalypse Now are up on my all time favorites. When I see a game like Gran Turismo 5 where I crash into a wall and nothing really happens, I think back to Carpocalypse and it puts GT5 to shame. Even Burnout/Twisted Metal don't keep up that well with the collision detection / reactions! Funny enough, I was only able to find a copy in England, that and Total Annihilation!

+1 Parasite Eve (on PC)

+1 Silent Hill Remake Rumor (on PC/PS3)

+1 FFVII Remake (on PS3 or PC)

This is the same effect though you get as you get older with scary movies, they don't affect you the same way. You became saturated / desensitized to it. Growing up hugely plays a role in what you appreciate, but it also makes you more discernible. We are the first true generation with video games, so there is no precedent for experiencing this before us, therefore nobody really talks about it, or thinks about it. There was no Final Fantasy VII for our parents, they had Pong and Pac-Man which was in an arcade on a 500 lb machine.

The generation just starting video games, they are experiencing stuff for the first time, which these games are infinitely more complex then they used to be. In other words, they go gaga for this magical world we have been apart of for quite some time already.

The best thing would be to fully integrate live sign in. If they're going to make every microsoft product use live accounts, there should be a place where users can sign into their account making every live application a one-click sign in.

They will probably never get rid of GFWL, but it seamlessly allowed my friend and i to join each other in multi-player GTA4. I'd rather it be more of an optional thing since i run all my games through steam and don't see the point in two separate overlays running in the background.

Definitely. Microsoft confirmed it themselves.
