I've played through nightmare without ever pausing once.

You bad?

Love/hate for me. In the day of fewer and fewer rpgs on the pc being released, I'll take what I can get >< I know it was being developed long before ME2, but I had happened to play and beat that 1st, my jaw dropped in dismay going from shep and tali to generic hero and morrigan, all stiff and oddly fingered. Still played it through, so the life of an rpg addict =)

thats the difference. You played as SHEPARD in mass effect. In Dragon Age, you play as yourself. which is whatever you want yourself to be in that game. Its just how the narrative goes, personally i prefer to have a voiceless PC and prefer to pretend it is me. Some people prefer to take the role someone else.

I would think that an RPG addict would understand the difference, although i didnt see the grey warden an more generic than shepard. I mean, come on folks. grey wardens are basically middle ages spectres.

Yeah. Crappy Graphics take away from a game.

Meh. At least you could change you and your companions armor/clothing in DAO...in ME2, all you can do is change the color of the various outfits which is just lame considering everything else.

Your character in Dragon Age is super generic. YOU HAVE to do all the quests in a more or less neutral way, there was no, "I'm the shining defender of light and freedom and all that is good!" choices just as there were no "I just like stabbing people, the blood feels good.." choices, and when there were "ehhh, meh?" choices they had very little bearing in the overall game and the progression of your character. There was no open world to explore. There weren't any random encounters really, and because the AI is bad and the game super easy to control, the fights all felt the same (tank all baddies on one guy, kill, rinse- apparently unnecessary in this game, repeat). There are multiple ways to get to certain goals, but once you've done that goal you've done it forever, the choices don't really matter.

I loved this game as a spiritual successor to the BG series. I understand the limitations- we can't have a 200+ hour epic storyline anymore due to console limitations. I just wish Bioware had worked harder at making it more open and random, and had had a better alignment/reputation system (or put one in at all).

let him go lol
some ppl need a games which gives a non stop fighting and nothing else (the simple ppl ..)
some ppl buy games only to say how the graphic looks like lol (the s***** ppl)
some ppl just like flame war so they see something most ppl like and start a "hate thread" about it lol

dragon age were a great game ,the majority have spoken
if the minority dont like it ,dont play it lol ,no1 will cry for the lose of u guys
there no such thing as a game everyone like ,cuz everyone have a difrent opinion on games
ppl who tried DAO and thought it just a brainless fighting game will be dispointed
DAO is a novel and not CRYSIS (i agree on the name on the game is siuts its game play very well lol)

People that base games off of graphics are missing out on a crap load of amazing games, I feel bad for them. IMO artwork > graphics. Look at how amazing that the artwork is in the older D&D titles like BG2 and Planetscape, it makes up for the older graphics.

HEHEE, how is shepard not super generic? And yes you can play as a goody goody or evil bastard in DAO, and depending on your choices, different characters can die. Its as generic as Mass effect. The choices you make in Mass effect really dont make a difference either. See where i am going with this. Every section of the DAO quest features a Good way to end it, or a bad way. Depending on the side you take with the dwarves, or the side you take with elves vs werewolves, and how you handle the mage tower. All 3 are a good vs evil choice.

I dont disagree with you on the combat model, DAO is terrible, it is not a tactical game at all, its almost to simple for its own good.

DAO is a letdown for me. I love a good story, but i also want memorable characters and intelligent gameplay. Tank and spank doesnt include that.
