Hefty overclocks aren't needed.
Plus, you would need to overclock 470's just to keep up with 6870's in many games.
who said anything about SLI/CF?
I said overclocked card vs overclocked card, the gtx470 has more headroom and edges out the 6870 in benchmarks.
why so defensive... im just pointing out benching results... and acknowledging that the 6870 is superior in power consumption and heat..
Everyone has their reasons for making the purchase they made.... I sold off my 5850 because at the time ATI drivers would not run the games I were playing (ie: daoc crashing in instances that had more than 50+ player models being drawn within clip plane..) and with how cold my room gets all winters... i cant say the added heat as had a negative affect in anyway.
The two cards are in the same category... do you wanna OC and gain a few fps at the expense of heat and power draw? or do you wanna run a few fps less and use less power and heat... game for game were talking single digit FPS differences...Edited by rmp459 - 12/23/10 at 7:55am
