Monster beats by Dr dre -> dissappointed - Page 2

Yeah I got Beats Studios and they're actually decent. I'd say they're worth $200 for everything you get. The extra $100 tagged onto the price is just celebrity hype and a nice carrying case. At $180 I'd say they're priced very competitively. But since they're regular $300, they're overpriced (though Futureshop is having a $220 sale in Canada on them, so not too horrible).

I was tempted to keep them sealed and try reselling them on craigslist for $240-$260 back, and then I'd invest $100 and get some Sennheiser 595 headphones. But I opened them, and now that $220 sale is going on, so I doubt I can get much out of them trying to resell. So I'm keeping them, but they are pretty decent all the same... better than most people say they are, but no where near where the fanboys say they are. Just about sitting in an actually satisfying middle. Their bass isn't overpowering though... it's actually pleasant imo.

But that's about the studios, not the extra portable ones you're posting about.

I got a pair of the Solo HDs on sale for $80.
For that price, they're not bad (compared to similarly priced cans)

But for $230, I don't think so...

They're worth more like $150 and under IMO. I can point out better headphones for $200. The bass is overwhelming and a bit muddy.

They sound like crap imo. They're more like $50-60 worth

I'd say $180-$200 is a fair price on the headphones based on everything you get. But that's just my opinion. I have found the bass to be far more impressive than people say it is; I get where the muddiness comments come from, but I think it's respectable and decent.

If I could I'd take $250 for them right now and go out and get Sennheiser 595's or 598's, but otherwise I'm happy sticking with these. I wouldn't sell them for $200 since that's about what I value them at (I know I could get that much, I went on Craigslist and checked out multiple people looking for the headphones for $200 in my area right now).

Of course, I have a $2000 audio setup in my room, and a $3800 audio setup in the theater room, so I hardly ever use headphones anyways (I find myself only using them late at night, or I imagine if I were not driving on a road trip I guess then as well).
