Fan power question.

All my fans (120/140mm) have two molex connectors, both male and female. What are two for? Obviously only one is needed for power (I've tried it), but what is the other for in that case? Can I, for instance: plug one fan's (well call it fan A) molex male into the PSU molex female and then another fans (fan B) molex male into fan A's molex female?
