is it worth it to play through mass effect 1 and mass effect 2 for the character save

so all this buzz about ME3 got me wondering if i should play through both games again so that i have a genuine character that is my own instead of getting some save file off MEsaves.com

is it worth it? i mean, it feels like a huge chore. I played through both games, but my original characters (hardcore beeeotch biotic jane shepard) got deleted a long time ago with my recent reformats.

I'm not quite sure. I know that in ME2, there were a number of events that were different depending on how you did in the previous games. Punching the reporter, relations with teammates...Heck, since the first game, Wrex could be dead.

Then again, if you're only replaying to have "something", any choices you make in that playthrough won't mean so much to you, so I'd think it's just better to play ME3 on its own.

If you care for the game that much go for it
I played through 1 + 2 with the same character. I think you get a better sense of achievement playing through the story with your own character.

The games main quests are not really that long.

Hell yes. I'm doing a second playthrough of ME1 just to be able to have Conrad Vermeer in ME2 (he pissed me off and put a gun to his head the first time around).

And DefaultShep FTW.

I say yes. But I can't get my ME1 to not crash on my PC. It's impossible. It must have a very bad memory leak or something.

"Burn away 120 hours?" Dude, play games to have fun, not to get some sense of achievement. If you think you would have more fun running over pedestrains in GTA for the rest of your gaming career, do that, just don't play something that's not fun to you.

Yes it's worth it. Getting a grasp on the whole story of ME is quite awesome.

A few things may be different if you don't play ME1 first, but I think it's better just to play through both so you get a better understanding of some of the characters.
