Faster for a browser is all relative, when loading times are so close that its goes almsot unnoticed it doesnt matter that its faster. Besides the fact that the average user and even advance users (like myself) dont care about customizing our browsers. And the secure browsers argument is a vassle argument, just like people who argue that Apple is more secure, its less to do with security and more to do with popularity.

Around 2004 or so, IE6 was pretty bad. MS did not see updating IE6 frequently as a priority. There was a bunch of exploits that messed up people's computers.

IE is not as bad as it used to be. It is better now.

Actually, due to it's relationship to BSD, osx really is more secure than windows. If you'd like to know why, you can PM me.

But that aside, currently chrome is the safest browser out of the box, as it runs in a sandbox by default. Any malicious code imbedded in an image that would exploit the rendering engine and give someone access to the pc is spotted and the process is shut off.

Is this actually "news"? I mean, IE has been loaded with bugs, right from the day it was SpyGlass, that was also loaded with bugs...

This isn't a post saying "ZOMG IE9 HAS BUGS!" Its a post warning people about a specific, dangerous bug that is new, therefore news.

n00b is because what n00b does.
much to worry about nothing if aesthetics are what you dig more then the occasional exploit then there is indeed no need to look past what you are doing.
you should even consider mac, i hear you can put IE on that now
