What would you recommend? The cards on the shelves here locally didn't look much better than the one I have now...
try to use the msi afterburner using the nvidia latest driver

but what cooler and brand are you using (that card is +3years old)

get the radeon hd5550 or geforce gt430

Don't know where your from, but don't buy off the shelf, get one from the net, more choice and cheeper. Like has already been said, any low end card would be better out the box. We're talking ~£50 ($60), maybe less.

Hi, you shouldn't be so rude to us, considering the only item of info you gave us was how do i overclock. We include a search feature, please use it.

on to helping you, if you still want it, What are you system specs? overclocking such a old, legacy GPU isn't gonna help you much at all. i recommend saving up and buying a low end modern GPU. eg, a 5670, GTS250, etc. that will be MILES Better.

If you want to try overclocking, download MSI afterburner and increase the sliders 10mhz at a time

speednugget like I said I had a totally different post with more info but nobody ever replied.

And I don't need to 'save up' lol. I'm not a kid in high school I can drop a few hundred on a card today if need be, I just don't really know what would be good for what I'm doing.

Oh, and I used the search feature, and it returned no results...soooo

SeeD,

U expect people here to answer a question on a card that when I googled your question I found toms hardware posts from 2006...

U notice every person that has responded to you has their rig info on there sig...

How about you take a few minutes and fill out that little tab asking about your system specs.

Most people that have 5 yr old cards are running 5 yr or older dual core cpu's and todays mid level cards will be bottlenecked by your dated architecture.

Sorry, I'm still learning I know. I filled it out hopefully it shows up and helps others know what I have.

So buying a new card would just be a system bottleneck for me?

At that low of a clock speed on your C2D, yes. Huge bottleneck. Get that CPU clocked up to around 3.0GHz or better, and you could easily get by with a GTX460 1GB or maybe even a GTX470 (HD5850, HD6850, HD6870 from AMD).

EDIT:
Granted for a power hungry graphics card, you would definitely need a better quality PSU too though. CoolerMaster units aren't known for reliability.

The sad part is, that is overclocked

Maybe I just need a new setup altogether at this point.

I'm gonna try and squeeze some more speed out of it but every time I cranked up the FSB any more it bluescreened.

That's because of your RAM. Lower your RAM speeds down, then try again. I'll bet you'll get higher.
