New system build

First time posting on OCN
It has came time i need to build a new system. I am wanting to get a build that will last for the next 2-3 years with ease. I would love to do an i7-950 build however i think it will be hard to get it past wife. I have already picked up a EVGA 570 superclocked. arrived today and was thinking at first could upgrade current vid card with this, didn't think to look at mb to ensure it had a pci-e 2.
Use will be gaming (Eve-online, possibly Aion), web

current system is amd 3200+, nividia 7600gt, 2gb ram.

I do not plan on going to sandybridge. i think budget of around $700.

suggestions pls

$700 US? And is this including absolutely everything?
And out of curiosity, why not Sandy Bridge?

ideally yes $700 US might be able to squeeze little more. I really am not seeing much more of a point to SB, i will not be utilizing the intergrated graphics and i may be purchasing everything by end of next week.

If you have kids, ignore my recommendation. If if you have a lot of student loan payments, ignore my recommendation. If the wife just doesn't want you to spend $700 for no clear reason, proceed to the following:

i950 $294.99 (newegg.com)
1GB Ram for $20-$40 (newegg.com)

You can go a week or two sleeping on the couch, but at least you'll have the new upgrades.

SB isn't about the IGP. It's about 32nm. Wait 2 more weeks. You'll be happy you did.

But hes going to be using it for gaming, I've never seen my Bloomfield i7 anywhere near 40% while gaming. Hes not going to need SB for gaming, hell he wont need an i7 for gaming.

Dude, just go with an i7 930 and overclock it to 3.8+ Ghz, it will be find for gaming. (You could even get away with getting a i7 870 or i5 760 and going to the P55 platform) That 570 will treat you nice too .

930 is a heat pump and totally necessary for gaming. 760 or 2500K is all he needs.
