I have my green and pink cables from my headset in the sound card when I used to have it on the front panel if that's what you mean.

Are there common errors that could do this? Disabling something, muting something wrong; give me everything that could make the microphone not work so I could check.

that happend to me. it was on fp microphone. I had onboard install when i had 2 480gtx and 285 hooked up. Right click. speaker on bottom right. Go to record devices, then click on microphone, Then go in setting in their. Make sure their up and non muted, make sure its set to mic, Well mines on LR(blue) rear panel 3.5mm jack. Far right looking @ the back of card.
