Kind of hard to compare the two...DA has party mechanics and The Witcher is a lone guy against a thousand enemies, though you do get a couple NPCs that you have no control over every now and then, but they don't help alot.

I like party mechanics so I vote DA...though I think The Witcher has a better story. In DA you have to do things that a hero wouldn't do in order to have the more interesting characters in your party (and have them be happy anyway). Any character that would do those things would careless about the blight and just leave the mess to some one else to clean up. They would use their ability to drink obscene amounts of health potions to take over some isolated mountain viliage and rule as a tyrant for the rest of his/her days

In The Witcher you can at least be a semi-badass and still play the hero part without the story falling to pieces...infact you kind of have to.

The Witcher, hands down, no contest for me (don't tell my girlfriend)

I can't stand Dragon Age, the game play simply sucks to me. Like playing single player WoW with a party. It's not even really an action game since you need to pause constantly to give your party orders. Tactics only get you so far.

I come from a background of playing Morrowind and Oblivion for RPGs so you can see why The Witcher is my choice.

I've played through both games and The Witcher is better hands down. Dragon Age wasn't that great IMO - just an average RPG that did nothing to differentiate itself from its competition. I did have some fun with DA and would recommend it for $10 or under - its not a bad game, just nothing special either.

The Witcher provided some excellent choices and was much darker. The gameplay was also excellent. It also had its faults (chap 2 was slow), but overall I enjoyed it much more. I'm very excited for The Witcher 2.

This right here is why the witcher is one of the greatest, if not greatest RPGs ever made. And why dragon age and other rpgs fail, sometimes horribly.
