Xai issue, need help

Thread Starter
Hello I'm having problems with my Xai mouse. My Xai keeps skipping every few minutes and usually the skipping is continuous for oh say a minute or two(its random). This is really annoying I love the mouse when it doesn't skip and because of my hand size its one of the few gaming mice I can use. I want to know should I update the firmware to latest(1.4.2 or whatever)? Right now I'm on 1.3.1 (1.3.6) and originally it had the first firmware before I updated it to 1.3.6.

Any other help would be nice too, thanks!

What mouse pad do you have?
If it's not a hard surface mouse pad, that could be the problem, but if it is, it is either drivers or a defect.

I'm using a cloth mouse pad or I should say pads. I've been using the corepad (eyepad) mouse pad and the steelseries qck+ mouse pad. The skipping problem is really annoying playing fps games. I'm gonna try to reflash to the earliest firmware if that doesn't work I'll try the latest firmware. If that don't work then I guess I'm gonna have to send it back to steelseries, and get either a new one or have them fix it. Any additional help would be nice thanks!

Don't use cloth mouse pads. Use hard mouse pads like the Steelseries 4HD/9HD or SX. The sensor on the Xai works best with hard plastic or metal mouse pads.

I think the problem is fixed, had my step father clean it with a pointed qtip swab with rubbing alcohol on it, and now my mouse isn't skipping anymore. Thanks for the additional info though.

So I guess the Xai does work on cloth mousepads its just that you shouldn't let your cat sit on the mouse pad like I did! hehe

Your cat shouldn't be resting on the pad anyway. The Xai will pick up cat hair easily and the sensor needs to be clean in order to track properly.
