Surge suppressor suggestions are coming, but I'm trying to get the rust out. hehe (it's been over 2 years since I learned enough about surge suppressors to make a very informed purchase)
So, it'll definitely be a few more minutes yet before I begin typing up that post.

errrr. noob question: Is there a real difference between 5e and 6 (I see a difference in MHz but how does that apply??)
I don't remember, however I think I saw someone say that the only time it's worth having 6 over 5e is if you have a 1000Mb network or something like that. But of course, 5e is certainly superior to 5. I mean, I have a "high-speed cable" internet service, and I also have a wireless router to provide some internet access to the laptop. So, my sig rig is directly connected to the router, and the router is connected to the cable modem. When I started with this service, I had a CAT5e between my sig rig and the router, but I still had a CAT5 cable between the router and the modem. But I didn't really care because this was an upgrade from DSL.
Then one day I upgraded that CAT5 cable between the router and modem to a CAT5e, and it immediately felt like I was using a "bigger straw" so to speak. It wasn't a HUGE difference, but check this out: my mom noticed it (she's the laptop user) without me even telling her what I did.
So then I upgraded at a later date to CAT6 (for both cables), but I didn't notice any difference at all.
