Ok sorry but im a newbie to this, i know there are pci wireless cards you can get for desktop pcs.

But my question is if i bought this :

http://www.scan.co.uk/products/micro...reless-adaptor

Will it work with my desktop pc just plug it into a usb port and connect to the home wireless?

Doubt you'd get very good reception with that...
It's quite small so the antenna would be small.

I guess so, depends on how far your desktop is from your Wireless AP.
I doubt you'll have very good range with it.

second one is much better. first can only run on g speeds, the second can run on n speeds. plus will most likely have much better range.

depends on your needs.
short range+older router=first one
short/long range+old/new/future upgraded router=second one

Two rules in choosing a wireless adapter:

1. go USB/USB with external and changeable antenna.
2. PCI adapter with external and changeable antenna.

Why? So you could better place them accordingly if need be when you need for better reception or your reception gets wonky!
