1090T bottlenecked?

So I kinda already knew this, but a guy brought this to my attention earlier, he said that my CPU was severely bottlenecked by my GPU. I know bottlenecked means, but in what exact situations would my gpu bottleneck my CPU?

Now I don't want to be mean but isn't this obvious?

Also, damn the first person to use the term bottleneck.

I believe i am the guy you are referring to, and if you play games your FPS would be higher if you had a better graphics card, in other words your graphics card is keeping your CPU from performing at its full potential. Considering that is a very good CPU i would consider a new graphics card, unless you dont game, then dont worry about it.

Yes. The GPU is a bottleneck, ie, the slowest component (in terms of gaming, otherwise the slowest part would be mechanical hard drives)

There's always a common bottleneck in every system. Often, the spindle-based HDDs are the culprit, they can only pull in at best 110 MB read/write speeds whereas SSDs can do 250 MB. But, they're expensive as hell.

You can get a 64GB SSD for $100. It may not be as cheap as an HDD (GB/$) but it's not too bad.

LOL its obvious I know, but I expected not to get high FPS..I mean its a old ass card. Kinda how it works, old card - low fps, new card - high fps? But yeah the only game I play right now is Counter Strike Source..in which I get like stupid fps (as anyone with a decent computer would) 500,900 fps, depending on map + res.

don't worry about what he said. A GPU bottleneck is only apparent in games and there is nothing wrong with that. 90%+ of people have GPU bottlenecks (e.g Core i7 + single GPU) or (eg. Most Quad Cores + 1 GPU).

"GPU bottleneck" isn't really a term you should use, seeing as all of us are bottlenecked by our wallets/ don't need the performance.
