My First Overclocking Attempt

Hi Everyone,

Love reading this forum and after my first overclock attempt decided finally to register.

How does this look for my first attempt at overclocking.

I have an Intel C2D E7400 on a Biostar TP45-HP Mobo. PID is 1.2500.

My OC is at 3.8Ghz - 400 x 9.5 on air
vcore 1.320v, FSB 1.232v, NB 1.224v everything else on auto.

Idle temp is 30degree C, after 6.5 hrs Prime 95 max temp was 62 degree C no errors.

Have to say this was fun and a breeze with this chip, what do you think?

Not bad, not bad at all.

Now see if you can get 4ghz out of it.

Actually had a strange fail in Prime95 at these settings. After 6.5 hours stable running large FFTs I was then doing a sensor test in real temp and had core 2 fail after 3 tests running small FFTs.

Very odd (given it was stable for a long period doing the larger FFTs) and hasn't been repeated, but I want a granite OC so i've upped my vcore another notch to 3.334 and now running a blended test to see what happens.

Feels like 3.8 might be my limit. If I push the vcore anymore my temps get up into the high 60s under load.

Can someone shed some light on what the different tests are really stressing in Prime95? Just wondering why I had the fail after 5 mins of small FFTs having been stable for 6+ hours running large.

Also, any advice on FSB and Chipset voltages? I have increased the FSB voltage to 1.232 given that this is quite a decent OC but not sure what the stable range is or what is normally required in relation to vcore increases.

Thanks again - RB.
