Bottleneck? - Page 2

post #11 of 24
Q6600's perform on average as well as PII X4's and they bottleneck a pair of 6970's

1600P = 2560x1600
at that resolution, GPU power is much more dependent of game performance, and a slower CPU can run without bottlenecking.

with a Q6700 at 3.6, at 1900x1200 it will be pretty bad with 2x 6970, but ok with one.
with a 2600K at 4Ghz at 1900x1200 2x 6970 will be pretty much not at all bottlenecked, and using their full performance.

Very interested to seeing my 2600K at 4.6Ghz with a pair of overclocked 570's

can i ask something?

is cpu power more important than gpu power on eyefinity?
or

1 or 3 monitör all need same cpu power?

Good advice, considering I'm gonna go for SB in January I might as well go for it!

I'll slap some benches up comparing the old 755 platform with SB.

CPU power is always Dependant. CPU pushes the cards doesn't it?

only at tiny resolutions.

on most eyefinity setps, the GPU's are going at 100% to render all of the pixels. The CPU no longer becomes a limiting factor of that system, the GPU's do, as they are running at 100% capacity.

on a low resolution, say 1280x1024, the GPU's end up having to wait for the CPU to finish tasks before they can do their job, which then puts the bottleneck on the CPU. this is usually a cause of low GPU usage.
