How is this mild OC? (i7 950)

System specs:
i7 950, rampage III formula, GTX 570, 850 watt PSU, Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler, 6GB 1600 ram

My first attempted overclock is 3.8 ghz

here are my bios settings, lmk if i need to include more

I have speedstep and Hyper threading disabled and im getting 30C on idle and 63C core temps max using Intel Burn Test's maximum stress test

Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio Setting: 21x
CPU Turbo Power Limit: Disabled
BCLCK Freq: 181
PCIE Freq: 100
DRAM Freq: DDR3 1451 Mhz
UCLK Freq: 2903 Mhz
QPI Link Data Rate: Auto

Memory Config Protect: Disabled
CPU Differential Amplitude: Auto
CPU Clock Skew: Auto
IOH Clock Skew: Auto

Digi+ PWE mode: T-Balanced
Pwm volt control: auto
load-line calibration: auto
cpu voltage ocp: enabled
cpu pwm freq: auto

Extreme OV: disabled
Extreme OC: auto

CPU voltage: 1.225
CPU PLL Voltage: Auto
QPI/DRAM Core Voltage: 1.325
DRAM Bus voltage: auto

IOH Voltage: auto
IOH PCIE Voltage: auto
ICH Voltage: auto
ICH PCIE Voltage: auto

CPU Spread Spectrum: disabled

I am really unsure about the ratio settings if i need to do 23x or what? and if if the voltage affects that. i also read that i should keep my CPU spread spectrum off, is that true?

i think that's it, i'm sure i included unnecessary things but meh

I just a decent mid range overclock that is stable to run 24/7

thanks!

Looks fine 4ghz is easy on a i7 900 series.. It is when you go above that it starts to get hard.. And you need the right mb to support it.

Okay... hold on a second. Let me get this straight. You spent a ton of extra money on a chip with hyperthreading technology and you DISABLED it? You basically just cut the ability of your processor in half... so I give a fail on the OC even though everything else looks to be pretty good.

Honestly, I'd be turning HT back on... turn off the C1E, speedstep, turbo-boost, and also PCIe spread spectrum... not just CPU... and virtualization. Also, your DRAM voltage can be set at 1.64 though it looks like you left your RAM underclocked... At least bump that back up to stock. You can also set your QPI data rate to its lowest setting... it'll auto adjust based on your memory frequency. With that chip it'll be X2- just like your Ucore will be X2 of your Bclock. They auto adjust. For your RAM, your frequencies will be changed somewhat because you've adjusted bclock.. so just pick the one closest to stock... preferably a bit below or a smidge high if necessary.

Your power settings look fine overall- but if you want to keep the heat down you'll want to manage the voltages a bit more closely. Auto tends to pour a bit too much coal on...
Good luck!

thanks for the info!

i now have it at 1.288V at 4.02 GHZ

21x 191.5 Mhz

the ram is at 1530...almost at 1600

but the timing is 9 9 9 24 and my ram says something way different on newegg
here is link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-335-_-Product
says the Timing is 7-8-7-24-2N... is it bad that i have it at 9 9 9 24

after running prime 95 all night and just running intel burn test...the highest temp i got was 71c on the first core

is this safe to run 24/7?
