ID Tech 5 vs Cry Engine 3 - Page 2

My vote goes to ID Tech 5. I wouldn't say these engines will be "limited" by consoles. I'd rather think their full potential will be seen on PCs. I don't see why they can't make a game for PCs then scale it back for consoles.

Correct,
Farcry- CryEngine
Farcry2- Dunia
Crysis- Cryengine 2

I'm interested to see what ID 5 can achieve in Rage. John Carmack said that Doom 4 would look three times better than Rage. For some reason this makes me think Rage isn't gonna impress that much, considering the likes of Crysis 2 coming out.

Why wouldn't Crysis 2 look spectacular? Is it because it is also coming out on consoles?

Do all OCN members now have some psychological illusion where all multi-platform games are somehow being held back just because there's a console version?

Hardcore PC Gamers/Developers can cry all they want about consoles, if they truly want to push the limits of PC hardware I don't see what could possibly be stopping them.

We will definitely see, when Rage is released later on this millennium. BTW I am going into cryo-stasis until it is release.

I can't wait for a side by side. These engines look incredible.

Let's not also forget Unreal's new GDK. I know there's a youtube somewhere out there with it.

Actually games are being held back by consoles, because games that come out now are multi-platform and consoles arent capable of the fullest potential of graphics some games are held back to be equal on all platforms and some games arent, but a while ago I found somewhere that the creative director of CryTek said that they were going to "keep all platforms of Crysis 2 the same"... or in other words there holding back the PC version
Also if games are ported from console coppies *cough* *BlackOps/MW2* *cough* then they wont be any better on the PC than on the consoles

more like it takes more spread out resources of developing for the different platforms stretches the ability for well polished product on the PC end of the spectrum.
