how to mount fans on rads?

Thread Starter
got my fans today and none of the screws I have are long enough to thread through my case, through the fan and into the rad, they're too short :|

I haven't seen anyone mention this problem on the forum before so i'm just kind of stumped, I need longer screws but how do I find the right "thickness" screws I need aswell as the right length?

Goto the hardware store and get an assorted different sizes and see what fits

Depends on your rad. Most have M3 or M4 with 30/35mm size.

Zip ties. They keep my fans attached, they'll do fine for yours too.

I can never find screws long enough to attach my Nidecs to my Rads, they are reallly thick, so I just use either regular screws and a very thin screw driver to attach the base of the fan to the rad (if that makes sense) been to every single hardware store in my area and none sell them long enough to attach the fans and he said I'd have a very hard time finding some. Best bet is a watercooling website that stock all sorts of screws and bits.

Good luck!

how do you use self tapping screws on the fans if there is already a screw in there to attach it to the rad? that's my problem. I have some screws which ALMOST are long enough but are too short by a couple mm.

all the screws I have are long enough to attach the fans to the rad fine, but not when they are going through the case aswell

If you look at the Fans there 2 holes on one corner Correct Top and Bottom ...

So through the Middle of the fan use your M4x10 mm Bolt through there

And use your self tapper throught the top of the fan to go through the case

Hope that helped
