Prolly stolen and he didn't wanna deal with all the trouble.

You don't sell a $600 RIG for $60 unless you're a sub 10 IQ moron.

My guess is that he may have tried to get it covered but the comp was full of roaches so they wouldn't fix it. I don't know what HP would have told him it would cost to fix it oop but the only other thing I could think of was he needed a quick drug fix. When I went to pick it up his daughter stuck her head out the door and she was really cute and friendly and proceeded to tell me how santa was bringing her a bunch of Barbie stuff. My wife and I bought some Barbies and stuck them outside their door on Christmas Eve seeing as how Santa probably wasn't going to show up from the looks of it. I generally don't give needy people money especially if I suspect drugs are involved but I'm more than happy to help them out in other ways.

I really don't know what the deal with the guy was but it could have very easily gone the other way and I bought a fried computer. It's risk/reward on CL. I happened to win this time.

It was his rig. It was full of pics of him and his wife and kids, his email accounts were logged on, he gave me the PW to the PC and his steam and game accounts, and it was full of resume's and school related stuff that were his. His story was that he was getting a laptop and didn't feel like fixing this. Who knows. Like I said if I wanted to do some damage I could have with all the info on that comp. I had access to everything personal, financial, etc. I just wiped it and cleaned it up.

I wonder how many people jumped on craigslist when they saw this thread.

I can tell you this, when I got the comp it was logged into his gmail and there were over 100 responses for his listing so the moral of the story, it pays to be a first responder and the loudest. I called him and emailed him right off the bat and didn't stop until he answered the phone. And no I wasn't poking around his email, I hit gmail and was wondering why I had 600 messages in my inbox, then I figured out it was his.
