Could I get even a tiny overclock out of this P31?

Right, got a rubbish clocking motherboard here, I just wonder if I might be able to get even a minute overclock out of it.

Bear in mind that it doesn't POST at 348MHz FSB.

So do you think that there are any settings at all which might give me even a small overclock?

Thanks

Yes, but that depends on BIOS options, and if none, what software you're using for overclocking, what cooling you have and what memory you are using.

Right, I'd rather do it through the BIOS really - if software is all I'm going to get then I might not bother. And BIOS options was what I was hoping someone could help me with

The cooling is alright but not amazing, I'm getting around 50C at load on the cores. The memory is using Micron D9 IC's which are apparently good for overclocking, I've never had a chance to overclock though as the highest memory multiplier/ratio on this board runs the memory at stock

Actually, I did have it at 823MHz no problems on my old E6400, not much of an overclock though.

Anyone know which settings might help me overclock?

That Q8200 in your sig already has a stock fsb of 333, so you are not going to get much at all out of it if you can't post at 348 fsb (just under 100mhz overclock). Now if you had a cpu with a stock fsb of 266 or lower, then you would have some headroom. That quad and motherboard will not make a good combo for overclocking.

I am aware of this.

What I was wondering was whether there were some certain settings which I didn't know about which I should have changed in order to get a decent overclock.

Yeah man you can.
I was going to suggest doing so earlier, just let me know when you decide to try it out

What if I decided to ditch the lower RAM timings and attempted to overclock both my CPU and RAM, whilst keeping the RAM at 5-5-5-12 or so?

You've been really helpful today man, shoulda repped you ages ago.
