Could I get even a tiny overclock out of this P31? - Page 4

Tried with:
  • 345MHz FSB
  • C1E Support Disabled
  • Intel EIST Disabled
  • Spread Spectrum Disabled
  • CPU 1.3125v
  • NB 1.35v
  • VTT 1.30v
  • RAM timings at 6-6-6-18

Still no joy.

Maybe it has BIOS defined FSB wall like my old Asus G31 P5KPL-VM does at 411MHz FSB as everyone who had that mobo hit the same 411MHz FSB wall..

Mobo would boot past 411 mark (even booted with 490MHz FSB into BIOS) but would not detect HDDs and boot to the OS..

P31 is natively weak OCer and that C2Q is only making things even harder..

I went trough every post on this thread and unfortunatly there`s not much left for you to try..

CHEERS..

Well piss.

Okay, lets try 340 fsb and 5-5-5-15 ram timings with the same voltages used in your post above

K done.

It worked!

I now have a 50MHz overclock

Where to proceed from here then?

Currently running a P95 blend test. Also, what do you use for monitoring temps? Getting annoyed at SpeedFan's loading times

I typed this up earlier, but never posted it

I keep double-posting in this thread as well, hopefully this'll be the last time I feel the need to.

Fairly weak overclocker? I think you mean extremely weak

Yeah, I am beginning to think this as well, I have tried so many options and it's just not POSTing. I'm weighing up my options at the moment but I'm considering selling my CPU/Mobo/RAM and buying a Phenom II X4 or i5 setup, or keeping my RAM and getting a UD3P and Q9x50.

I just need to decide if the overall performance boost would be worth the money.

You could even keep your Q8200, it's really not that bad, and get faster ram.

I use RealTemp to monitor my temps.

Thanks. The main reason I'd want to upgrade the processor is to get something with a higher clock speed, so if I overclocked this enough I'd be a lot more likely to want to stick with it.

Do you think there's any more speed I can squeeze out of this motherboard?

Its always a possibility. You just have to take your time with it.
