Why did you run 6-6-6-18 timings? Is that CL6 800MHz RAM?

You should decie if you`re up to upgrade and for what upgrade..

Well for 3.0GHz Q8200 needs 427MHz FSB and that would not be able on any P35 mobo..

And Q8200 is a low binned chip that probably has a low FSB wall and needs VERY GOOD mobo with all the right OC options in BIOS for high FSB OCing (like CPU GTL ref`s,vFSB etc..)

CHEERS..
I ran 6-6-6-18 timings because those are the stock timings, completely stable at its current configuration though.

Yeah, I'm thinking if I do decide to upgrade the motherboard and keep the CPU it'll have to be something known for high FSB's like the UD3P, and if I decide to go with a Q6600 or something I could get away with a slightly lower FSB motherboard.

I've also realised (not sure how it took me so long to realise this) that there is no right answer for what I should upgrade to - I need to work out myself what the best option would be and then get it.

I think it's unlikely that I'll decide on staying with 775 - there are now two newer mainstream sockets which do have more stuff to offer a lot of the time.

I wouldn`t aim higher than 3.2GHz on that Q8200 on any motheroard as you need 457MHz FSB for that OC and that is wery hard to do on that CPU regargless of motherboard..
And you`d need to be skilled as hell

For fastest Q8200 CLICK HERE and they are everything BUT STABLE, highly overvolted and extremely cooled..
I still think that Q6600 is much better option as it`s effort free and @ 3.6GHz still faster than your Q8200 will ever be..

CHEERS..

Yeah, I don't think there's any point continuing to try with the Q8200 (apart from maybe a tiny bit more on this current setup) but I still don't know if there's any point going for a Q6600 when I could get an i5 instead.

Just save your money up for one.

you didn't tell me your ram was 6-6-6-18 default?? no wonder we were having trouble lol. 5-5-5-15 is pretty impressive for that stuff.

Yeah, this is probably what I'll do. Shouldn't cost me too much after I sell my current gear as well, especially as prices will come down with the release of Sandy Bridge.
